Homelab

Personal self-hosted infrastructure for experimentation, service hosting and automated maintenance.

Since January 2015, I have been building and maintaining a personal homelab based on a Linux mini-ITX server and a range of self-hosted services.

The project started with a more modest configuration built around a Celeron processor and 4 GB of RAM. It was progressively upgraded over the years to reach its current configuration.

The server runs UnRAID on an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor with 64 GB of RAM, 56 TB of hard drives and a 4 TB SSD cache. An uninterruptible power supply protects the infrastructure from power outages.

The network layer includes DNS management through OVH and load balancing with Traefik. CrowdSec is used for threat analysis and to strengthen the system’s security.

The infrastructure includes approximately 45 containers, including PostgreSQL, Redis, Vaultwarden, Immich, OpenCloud, Uptime Kuma, Home Assistant, AdGuard Home and Unbound. Grafana and Prometheus provide monitoring for the system and its containers.

The software forge is built around a Gitea instance and Gitea runners that automate tests and builds. Renovate automates dependency updates, while Komo.do contributes to service orchestration and maintenance.

The server also uses incremental backups through Backrest to improve the resilience of the overall setup.
